Full stomach

had a good chat with Elliot over Mexican food. Conversation was excellent, thanks to my resourceful and ever entertaining companion, ruptured by occasional spells of silence contributed by me. Elliot came to give a talk at Columbia, brought news and gossip and had compassion with the slow-witted, gloomy, aging homo corporatus (that is me). Enjoyed the chat, escorted Elliot to train, bought a loaf of bread, heading home after a day of work. The beef burrito was not so good, but there was lot of it and for some reason I felt compelled to eat it all. Stomach not happy. Sigh.

(Re)connecting

It ain't easy to keep track of all the folks that are near and dear to me. Keeping in touch requires energy, attention, time.. I was (and still am) terrible at writing letters and postcards. When I was a kid, I never knew what to say on that mandatory postcard one was supposed to send to parents from a summer camp or a school trip. The food is good, love, your son. Bullshit. I spent much of this Sunday afternoon communicating. Talking on the phone to my father, talking to my better half, IM-ing friends in Rochester, calling my younger bro.. still, there remains a long list of people I wish I'd find time to talk or write to.. the high school buddy who went to Sweden to get a physics PhD such a long time ago.. folks in Ithaca, folks in Slovakia.
